Inaugurated on July 06, 2004, Radio Izuba is the first community radio in Rwanda. It puts a particular emphasis on the promotion of agriculture and small trades, and the role of youth and women in development. In the context of good governance, talk shows involving the community are organized live or deferred.

Clubs to listen to "Imboni (community Reporters elected by the people)" and "Inshuti za Radio Izuba (inseparable friends)" were also set up to regularly adapt the content of the programmes to the concerns and expectations of the population.

Every Sunday, Radio Izuba welcomes more than two hundred children in a called antenna animation "Itetero". Every evening, a free animation Exchange with children in 30 minutes is scheduled from Monday to Thursday from 19:00 to 19:30.

Radio IZUBA is headquartered in the town of Kibungo, located in the East of Rwanda, a hundred kilometres from Kigali. Instead of being close to policy makers and entrepreneurs, Radio Izuba chose to be close to the people. The content of the messages is also proximity: local news, evangelism, outreach, education, local music...

Its partners are local or working locally: local communities, local governments, churches, colleges, agencies and development organizations whose mission is community development.

Radio Izuba is a property of the Association for community development through Communication, ADECCO a.s.b.l. whose members are from the private sector, public and civil society.

Its seat is located in a region which has about 2,000,000 inhabitants, are farmers, farmers, traders, artisans...

The staff of Radio Izuba itself comes from the local community: journalists trained on the job, volunteers and local volunteers, journalists elected by the people, inseparable friends clubs, clubs for children journalists... Programs and the management of the Radio know the participation of citizens and the listeners.

 Radio Izuba mission is to:

• Stimulate the action of the community to the opportunities that are available to it

• Enhance democracy and good governance

• Build consensus on issues of local interest

• Positively influence public opinion

• Being a tool of social, cultural, political and economic Auditors development, to improve their living conditions.

 Radio Izuba vision is cross-border:

Radio IZUBA participates actively in community development in the border region between Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Burundi. His dream is to live in a community of informed, blossomed and developed without distinction of border. Through exchanges at the level of emissions, reports, and journalists with Radio Publique Africaine RPP of Burundi and Maendeleo de Bukacu in the DRC, Radio Izuba can reach Rwandans living elsewhere especially in the forests of the Eastern DRC. Its programs are also streamed on its website: www.izubaradio.com and on facebook.
